IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatment & Lasers
These treatments can be used to remove thread veins on the face and body. IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatments will remove fine and large thread veins quickly and effectively in two or three sessions.
A laser is passed over the area which emits an intense pulse light. This light coagulates the blood in the vein, causing it to become redundant and eventually disappear. The process is not painful, and the sensation is often described as similar to an elastic band being flicked against the skin.
The light impacts the vein without damaging the surrounding tissue which makes this a safe and effective procedure to leave your skin feeling smooth and blemish-free.
We generally recommend, on average, 3 treatments, although results can be seen after one. This does depend on the area.
Intense Light treatment for Pigmentation
IPL Photo Rejuvenation effectively reduces skin pigmentation in approximately 3-6 visits. The heat of the light is absorbed into the melanin and breaks down the pigment at its core.
After your IPL treatment, the skin pigmentation or sun spots will gradually fade and slowly disappear, however in some instances the pigment may appear darker as it heals itself whilst in other cases it can flake up in a bid to eliminate the pigment in an external form.
IPL Photo-rejuvenation also stimulates collagen production, thickening and firming thin crepey skin helping with ageing hands.
Intense Light treatment for Thread Veins
The IPL treatment works by emitting an intense pulse light, which coagulates the blood causing it to disappear. Due to the localised nature of thread veins the light is able to alter the appearance of your veins with affecting the surrounding tissue – leaving your skin feeling smooth and looking blemish-free.
Intense Light Treatment for Rosacea
IPL Skin Rejuvenation works amazingly for the symptoms of rosacea. Firstly, red thread veins absorb the light energy. The heat encourages the body to reabsorb them, improving the appearance.
Secondly, the light energy warms the collagen fibres in the skin. This stimulates new collagen and improves the support of the small blood vessels, which helps to delay the development of more thread veins.
Frequently Asked Questions on treating skin imperfections with Laser Therapy
Q: What is a vascular lesion?
A: An abnormal presentation of blood vessels. Vascular lesions may appear as light or dark red marks or bumps. They can be congenital e.g. a port wine stain. However, they are mainly acquired through trauma, for example, sunburn or with an underlying medical condition similar to large moles or varicose veins. Typical vascular lesions include scars, rosacea, thread veins and port wine stains.
Q: What is a pigmented lesion?
A: A pigmented lesion is a tan, blue-grey or brown skin mark that is caused by a deposit of pigmented cells at various depths under the skin’s surface. In removing these marks, several treatments are usually necessary for successful elimination. Typical pigmented lesions include sun spots and birthmarks.
Q: How does laser treatment work?
A: The laser emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein. The laser “selectively” targets the problem veins while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel will naturally disappear over some weeks.
Q: How many treatments are required?
A: Typically, only one or three treatments are required, and results can be seen immediately and will also improve over 3-4 weeks after. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.
Q: Does treating skin imperfections with laser therapy hurt?
A: The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Any redness or swelling should be gone within a day and you’ll be able to resume normal activities immediately.
